Playing with the Holga

Ah, the humble Holga camera!  Originally designed in China as a cheap way for folks to shoot with 120mm film, this plastic camera is full of surprises, and has reached cult status.  Light leaks, barely any settings, a sticky shutter button, and a back that randomly falls off mean you’ll never be able to duplicate the effects found in the photographs.  But I love a challenge, and the random happenings associated with this camera has put the fun back in photography.  Double exposures?  No problem.  Shooting with the lens cap on?  Sure, if you’re too distracted to take it off.  Blurry photos, light flare, ghostly shapes at the edges…  all part of the fun.  You should try it!
