Review Santa Fe – Photo Symposium was a huge success!

Recently I attended Center Santa Fe’s Photo Symposium and Portfolio Reviews, an annual event that offers photographers a chance to meet and discuss their work with arts professionals from all over the world.  I was lucky to be juried in, and even though I have years of photographic experience, it was highly educational and rewarding to have others look at my work, with tips and opportunities for exhibitions and publication. What an intense weekend, though…  I had nine personal reviews, there were social events, lectures, and a Saturday night Portfolio Walk & Book Fair that drew over 1000 people from the community and beyond.  I had a chance to show my camera obscura and pinhole work, and had a blast, even though I lost my voice by the end of the night.  It’s always a great idea to have feedback from people who are at the leading edge of the photographic world, and if you ever have a chance to go, grab the opportunity.  And an added bonus was the fun of hanging out with 100 other photographers in such a beautiful, historic city, sharing stories, images, and a few pints at the pubs in Santa Fe!

I wish to extend a huge thank you to the Ontario Arts Council and Government of Ontario for providing help with my travel expenses.  I couldn’t have done it without their assistance.
